I decided to start a new life at 50. Up until that point, things had not been working out so well. I had a terrible childhood. I moved out on my own at fourteen and became an alcoholic, then an addict. When I got sober I was diagnosed with major depressive disorder along with a bunch of other illnesses. For the next twenty-five years I took medication trying to manage my “unbalanced” state of mind. I lived a very limited life and accomplished very little.
In 2015 I discontinued all my meds. I became free of depression and illness. I am truly alive for the first time.
I have learned a lot about mental and physical health. I have learned how to love myself and I am becoming the person I always wanted to be. This site is about what the journey of freedom has been like for me. My hope is that I can give someone the inspiration to help themselves.
I also have a shop on Etsy called The Paper Scout where I sell books and ephemera. Come have a look.
